Summer is almost over and we have not enjoyed nearly as many picnics, outdoor concerts, beach outings or barbecues as Little M and I feel we should have! Make the most of August with these family-friendly ways to enjoy summer!
Pack a picnic and head to your local park or try to find a free outdoor concert or movie. Red Tricycle is a great resource and provides city guides with lists of activities and events for families. Check out these awesome picnic blankets and don’t forget to pack healthy and tasty snacks and treats!
What’s summer without ice cream – or popsicles? Make your own healthy popsicles at home with these easy and kid-friendly recipes. Little M and I love to indulge in a little taste of ice cream once in awhile too. We enjoy the organic ice cream sandwiches at Beachy Cream in Santa Monica (strawberry balsamic swirl is a favorite)! Can’t make it to Los Angeles? I found a strawberry balsamic ice cream recipe to make at home – no ice cream maker required!
Enjoy the feeling of sand between your toes at the beach! All Little M really needs to keep him happy is his bucket and shovel, but this adorable DIY tic-tac-toe beach towel idea from Martha Stewart would be a great addition to our beach bag.
Go fly a kite! No really, take the kids outdoors and teach them to fly a kite. Little M recently tried his hand at flying a kite and loved every minute of it, as you can see from the photo below. Try this DIY idea for making and decorating your very own kite from Better Homes and Gardens.
Photos from Twine, Beachy Cream, Martha Stewart and Better Homes and Gardens,
some good ideas for the last days 🙂
Thank you!
