Mustache Baby – Book Review

Little M and I recently came across Mustache Baby, a hilarious new picture book that we want to share with you.

Mustache Baby - Book Review

Mustache Baby, written by Bridget Heos and illustrated by Joy Ang, is the story of baby Billy who is born with a mustache! The nurse informs his family that they will have to see what kind of mustache their baby ends up with, because mustaches come in two kinds: a good-guy mustache and a bad-guy mustache.

His family waits to see what kind of mustache their little one will have. Luckily, Billy’s mustache proves to be of the good-guy variety – thanks to his noble mustache, Billy saves the day as a cowboy and police officer.

But when Billy wakes up one day with his mustache curled up at the ends, his parents’ worst fears are confirmed. He has a bad-guy mustache, which leads him into a life of crime! This is our absolute favorite part of the book. The illustrations and story are wonderful, Billy is depicted as being a ‘cereal’ criminal and even a cat burglar.

Finally though, when his behavior is punished and his mother later busts him out of jail, Billy learns that everyone has a bad-mustache day. The detailed illustrations and witty storyline ensure that this book will appeal to both parents and children.

Let the fun continue after reading the book with this great activity. Use these mustache templates from the blog Easy Makes Me Happy and glue them on wooden craft sticks (or buy these ready made ones). Then play mustache baby with your little ones at home.
