Valentine’s Day is right around the corner – what better way to celebrate than with a kid-friendly craft!

Little M, Baby M and I made these beautiful heart cards using a few simple materials – watercolor paper, paints and spray bottles. Here are our step-by-step instructions so you can design your own watercolor Valentines with your little ones.

First gather your materials:

Watercolor paper
Watercolor paint
Spray bottles
A drop cloth for covering your work area (believe me, this can get messy)
Any additional Valentine’s themed decorations – we used stickers, stamps, gemstones and glitter glue

Cut your paper into heart shapes and spread them out on your mat.

Fill your spray bottles with watercolor paint and let your kids have a blast. Mine loved spraying the paint and mixing the colors on the paper.

Let the hearts dry and then have fun decorating and writing cute messages to family and friends.

Consider setting up a small Valentine’s mailbox at home to “mail” each other Valentine’s throughout the week. Happy Valentine’s Day!
