Celebrating New Year’s Eve with Kids

Little M and I have begun our countdown to 2013. We have stocked up on our party hats, noisemakers and confetti (all thanks to his resourceful grandmother – thanks mom!) and we are ready to ring in the new year! Here are some of my favorite New Year’s Eve party ideas for those of you who are planning to celebrate with your little ones.
NYEbags
Keep kids entertained and involved in the evening with these New Year countdown activity bags from The Idea Room. Draw the times on each bag and fill with a variety of activities, crafts and treats.
NYEhats
It’s not a party without festive hats! Make it a craft project and get the little ones into the spirit with these DIY party hats from the awesome crafts blog Salsa Pie. Best of all, the hats are made out of simple items you probably already have around the house: old party hats, craft paper, glue and pipe cleaners.
NYEmini-discos
Bling in the New Year with these miniature disco balls from one of my favorite blogs, A Subtle Revelry. Perfect to bring a little sparkle to any celebration and easy as pie to make.
NYEcookies-milk-shotglasses
Speaking of pie, what’s a party without something sweet to eat? If your littlest guests are too young for some bubbly, but still want to make a New Year’s Eve toast, bring in a tray of these milk and cookie shooters.
NYE NYE1
Create an impromptu photo booth with your camera and this creative photo prop kit (pictured above). I’ve also had my eye on this Polaroid instant digital camera, it seems perfect for when the kids (ahem, and yours truly of course) are too impatient to wait for pictures to print.
