Luxe for the little ones

October 5, 2012 by crayonsandcroissants

I love travel guides. I buy them for every new city I visit and seem to have collected quite a lot of them over time. While traditional guide books are indispensable, sometimes I just want one that is compact, concise and filled with great insider suggestions, which is why I have long been a fan of Luxe City Guides. Still, traveling with kiddos brings a whole new set of challenges and requirements. My list of questions is probably similar to most parents’: […]

A chip off the old block

October 4, 2012 by crayonsandcroissants

I know what you are thinking. How different can building blocks be anyway? Little M and I learned exactly how different when we came across these incredible blocks from Uncle Goose. They are made of sustainable Michigan basswood and embossed with non-toxic ink. The hand-manufactured blocks come in a wide range of colors, styles and patterns including classic alphabets, count and stack blocks, nursery rhyme blocks and (our favorite) foreign language blocks. The blocks feature each language’s alphabets and corresponding pictures. […]

Kids in the kitchen

October 1, 2012 by crayonsandcroissants

I have always been a firm believer in getting kids involved in the kitchen. Letting children take a hands-on approach to cooking encourages them to enjoy their meals and will also hopefully lead to a healthier attitude towards food in the future. While it may not always be easy to let your little one help out, I find that there are usually small jobs that Little M can do. Of course, having kid-friendly kitchen products always helps! Read on for […]

Going green just got easier

September 28, 2012 by crayonsandcroissants

I’ll let you in on a little secret. I am an avid online shopper. I can search for the best deals from the comfort of my home, add products to my cart with a quick “click, click”,  and then it’s all “magically” delivered straight to my door. Best of all, I don’t have to lug an active (and usually impatient) toddler around to numerous shops to buy what I need. But I am also an eco-conscious parent and I am […]

Honestly speaking

September 27, 2012 by crayonsandcroissants

Summer may be over, but it doesn’t seem like the insects got the memo! Little M and I enjoy taking long walks in our neighborhood and he loves spending time outdoors, so I am always looking for safe, non-toxic options for insect repellent. When I heard about The Honest Company, which was created by Christopher Gavigan (the former CEO of Healthy Child Healthy World) and Jessica Alba (yup, the actress), I was intrigued. And when I tried some of the products, I […]

Under the Nile

September 25, 2012 by crayonsandcroissants

Although it is true that all baby clothes are cute, I have to confess that I really love the ones made of organic cotton. They are cozy and comfortable and so unbelievably soft. Before Little M was born, I came across the clothing line Under the Nile and bought a lot of their clothes for him. All their products are made from 100% handpicked organic Egyptian cotton, the designs are simple and I felt good seeing my tiny newborn all snuggled […]

Eat like a ninja

September 24, 2012 by crayonsandcroissants

I am a big believer in making meals that are nutritious and also fun, so I am always looking for ways to keep Little M from getting bored with his food (something that tends to happen a lot with toddlers)! Which is why I was really excited when I found these unusual ninja cookie cutters from Fred and Friends. Around here, we use cookie cutters for many things: making sandwiches in different shapes, crafting with our play dough and of course, […]

Show your city pride with these adorable baby bodysuits and kids t-shirts from Maptote. The company started off with simple cotton tote bags and now offers products ranging from wine totes (love these, what a great gift idea!) to bandanas to zipped pouches. Made of super soft cotton, the bodysuits and t-shirts are just the thing for your jet set kiddos to make a statement about their favorite cities. Paris, Miami, Los Angeles and Brooklyn are just some of the places […]

Mealtime. Beep beep.

September 21, 2012 by crayonsandcroissants

Mealtime is usually a busy time in our household. I get Little M settled in his high chair and he watches while I get his food ready. He is learning to feed himself using his own spoon and fork, which makes for a fun, and messy, experience. We try to avoid plastic as much as we can and I am constantly searching for safer alternatives, especially when it comes to dinnerware. I found this wonderful plate from Innobaby that seems […]
