The Pout-Pout Fish Goes to School

Our favorite little fish is ready for his first day of school in The Pout-Pout Fish Goes to School, the newest book in the Pout-Pout Fish series.

The Pout-Pout Fish Goes to School

Little M and I just love these books. We have followed pout-pout fish on his many adventures and have been eagerly awaiting this new title in the series from author Deborah Diesen.

The book opens with Pout-Pout and his parents going to his new school. Mr. Fish is nervous about his first day, he doesn’t know where to go so he looks into several different classrooms where other underwater students are learning how to write, draw shapes and do math. Pout-Pout becomes increasingly upset because he “just can’t do it” and is almost ready to give up when his new teacher Miss Hewitt shows up to guide him to the right classroom. Little M always smiles when the sweet teacher meets Pout-Pout and when they enter the classroom for all the brand new fish.

The rhyming prose is as catchy as in the other books and Dan Hanna’s beautiful and detailed illustrations keep Little M entertained every time we read the story. In fact, we find something new in the drawings each time we read the book! This is a lovely book for children who are about to enter a new school, especially if they are already fans of the Pout-Pout series.
