Family Getaway to the Ritz Carlton, Laguna Niguel

Grab a little downtime, and some quality family time, at the Ritz Carlton, Laguna Niguel.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to travel. I have learned however, since having Little M, that traveling these days requires a lot more planning (and luggage). I am always looking for hotels that can take some of the stress out of travel, so that we can relax and enjoy our family time together.

I have written about luxury travel here before. And I am happy to report that I have found one more hotel that I truly feel comfortable recommending to all my friends with (and even without) kids. Our stay at the Ritz Carlton, Laguna Niguel was exceptional. We enjoyed taking in the gorgeous views and strolled down to the beach with Little M. He loved running around and playing with the sand so much that we went back several times during our stay. It helped that the beach was so close and so convenient – the hotel’s shuttle service and beach butlers were the icing on the cake!

We had a lovely dinner at Raya restaurant, which is quite a formal restaurant with extraordinary service. Nonetheless, the staff treated Little M like a very important guest and made sure that we all enjoyed our meal. Oh and did I mention the view? Breathtaking!

The highlight of our stay was the hotel’s incredible Jean-Michel Cousteau Ambassadors of the Environment Program. Little M spent hours there coloring and exploring. Unfortunately, he is still a little too young for their classes (which begin at age 5), but we will definitely be back when he can participate. We visited the hotel’s herb and vegetable garden and learned about the wonderful kids classes and eco-adventures including Ambassadors in the Kitchen (my favorite), Creatures of the Night and Gardening Gurus.

All in all, we had a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday. Which is always wonderful, but especially so when traveling with little ones. I am already thinking about the next time we can visit!
